There are some things you don’t want to be caught without if you ever go camping and get stuck. Being stranded sucks plain and simple. Having camping survival gear can keep you from really getting into trouble in a strange situation. Camping survival gear is not expensive by any means. You can get a camping survival backpack for about $50 and it will provide you with a means to be rescued and keep yourself and anyone with you safe until you are found or find civilization.
We recently purchased a camping survival gear backpack for $60 from eBay. Our reasons for purchasing this backpack are more than just survival but boil down to pure survival indeed. We wanted to test one of these packs to see just how safe someone would be if they ended up stuck out in the woods or any other situation with JUST this pack. The main thing with this camping survival gear is that you can add to it and use only the survival pack on your trip. There is plenty of room for extra camping gear.
You could actually fit a small tent and sleeping bag, and even a change of clothes or two in with the survival gear. The gear that is in the pack is very basic for survival. You should be able to use JUST the pack to survive in any situation. There is enough food and water to keep you alive for quite some time. They recommend the pack for 72 hours but with my experience in survival techniques I will bet that you could go a week or even two with just what is in the pack if you are looking for rescue.
We will be testing the pack in the real world in a couple weeks. Check back for the results of those tests.
Here at Earth Articles we want to believe in what we are promoting so we went ahead and made up this test to see how well a Survival Pack, available on eBay, would work in a given situation. There are quite a few of these Survival Packs that boast they are able to sustain you until help arrives or until you make it to safety. Being prepared for any situation is important to you and your family. Having a little help in a rough situation can help you through any disaster. The motto is “Be Prepared!”
In our first test we wanted to test out the one man (or woman) survival backpack. In this test we will be using the Guardian Essentials Survival Kit which contains water, food, and a few essentials for navigating and basic survival. Weighing just under 9 lbs. this survival pack is very well put together and gives the survivor room to expand their survival pack.
We chose this pack for a few well thought out reasons.
- Weight, this survival pack is light and easy to carry. At just under 9lbs. it’s very easy to carry alone or as an addition to your main pack.
- Expandability, the user can easily expand this pack to include any amount of survival gear for their specific needs.
- Price, while not coming in as the least expensive survival pack, the Guardian Essentials is well worth the price for what is included.
- Durability, after receiving the pack we found that the stability of the straps, the materials used for the pack and the construction are superb. This is a well constructed back pack whether used for a survival pack or an every day back pack.
- Contents, while the medical kit and some of the products chosen for this pack are slightly lacking, like the face mask which could be well substituted for a bandana, the amount and quality of the rest of the products included in the pack are excellent.
- Usage, with the size and shelf life of the contents you can easily store this pack in a car or truck, van what ever you have for those road side flat tire, ran out of gas adventures, or throw it on your back for a hike in the wilderness.
Overall this pack gets a big thumbs up so far. We will be testing the pack in a real world survival situation in about two weeks. The first weekend in March is the target date and we will be recording our results here on the site along with some video and a few images from the event.
